Basketball Shooting: rules and examples

Take a moment with Basketball Shooting before moving to another game. Score as many baskets as possible from ten shots. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Keep the instructions close while learning this activity. Use the example below to understand a decision.

One hoop, ten shots, gravity and rim/backboard collisions.

An idea for your next attempt

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your goal

Score as many baskets as possible from ten shots. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Review the board or playing area as it changes.

The steps to play

  1. Set angle and power.
  2. Shoot.
  3. A downward crossing inside the rim scores.
  4. Adjust for another shot.

Your inputs

Touch aim, sliders and Shoot; Space fires. Use the control method described here for this activity. Look at the feedback after the action.

One way to understand the rules

A rising crossing does not score until a downward entry occurs. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Keep the controls nearby.

Avoid this misunderstanding

Backboard contact alone is not a basket. A different version of the game may use a different rule. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
